Our other insurance offerings are designed to provide benefit-eligible faculty and staff an additional layer of security and stability for you and your family. We offer Accident Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance and Life Insurance through Securian. Learn more about our offerings below.

Accident Insurance: Invest in Peace of Mind

If you elect accident insurance, you receive a lump-sum cash payment is received when an accident causes fractures, dislocations, loss of limbs, burns, hospital and ambulance expenses, accident-related disabilities or death. The amount you receive is based on the type of injury and care you receive. Individual coverage is included at no cost with Anthem HSA plan enrollment.

Critical Illness Insurance: Serious Medicine, Extra Care

If you elect critical illness insurance, you receive a lump-sum cash payment when a covered faculty or staff member is diagnosed with a critical illness like heart attack, stroke, organ failure, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, etc. Payment may be used for medical expenses or other living expenses (childcare, transportation, special medical equipment, etc.). Individual coverage is included at no cost with Anthem HSA plan enrollment.

Life Insurance: Planning for Tomorrow, Today

The University of Notre Dame offers three types of life insurance: Basic Life Insurance, Supplemental Life Insurance and Dependent Life Insurance. 

  • Basic Life Insurance: $25,000 term life insurance policy at no cost.
  • Supplemental Life Insurance: You may elect voluntary life insurance coverage in multiples of their annual salary from 1-10 times (up to a maximum of 1.5 million dollars). The premiums are deducted from pay on an after-tax basis.
  • Dependent Life Insurance: You may elect two options of Dependent Life Insurance coverage for eligible family members who meet the dependent verification requirements.
