There are certain times where you may need to elect or make changes to your enrollments:
- Within 30 days of a faculty/staff member’s initial eligibility (new hires)
- During the annual Open Enrollment period
- Within 30 days of a qualifying event
Electing benefits or making changes to them
Deciding what's right for you: The Office of Human Resources has created materials to help faculty and staff choose the appropriate benefit plans for their specific needs and those of their families. You can reference those materials here.
Electing your benefits: If you are a new hire, have a life event that qualifies you for making changes to your coverage, or are making changes during the Open Enrollment period, you may elect benefits online at mybenefits.nd.edu.
Note: Dependent verification may be required. When enrolling a spouse or child (or changing a spouse or child’s enrollment) in benefits, the University of Notre Dame requires documentation that demonstrates the current spousal or child relationship. These documents must be uploaded digitally to mybenefits.nd.edu during the benefits enrollment or change process. Please review the information on Dependent Verification for acceptable verification documents.
The deadlines outlined above for electing or making changes to your benefits are dictated by plan documents. It is required that you meet these deadlines if you wish to elect benefits, make changes or add dependents to your benefits.
Important: Your online change request and dependent verification documentation must be submitted within 30 days from the date of the qualifying event or the change will not be accepted.
Faculty and staff who do not enroll or waive coverage during his/her initial enrollment period will default to individual PPO medical coverage.
