Family Services Website

Dear members of the Notre Dame community,

We hope the academic year is off to a good start. Please know how much we appreciate all you do in service of the University.

As part of our commitment to provide work and life benefits to meet your needs, we write to share some important enhancements to family support programs at Notre Dame.

Building on the recommendations by a faculty and staff committee convened to look at child care assistance opportunities, we are delighted to announce that we will break ground next year on a new on-site facility to provide child care for faculty, staff, and students with children who are between the ages of 6 weeks and 3 years old. We are partnering with KinderCare, the nation’s largest child care and early education provider, to operate the new facility, which will be located on the north edge of campus near White Field, adjacent to Beichner Hall, home to the Family Resource Center serving married and parenting students, and The Landings at Notre Dame apartments where many of our graduate students reside. The new facility will open in summer 2025 and operate with sliding-scale tuition.

The Early Childhood Development Centers (ECDC) at Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s College will continue to provide early childhood education for children age 2 through kindergarten and will work in collaboration with KinderCare. We are grateful that Notre Dame faculty and staff have had access to the superb programs offered by ECDC for more than 50 years, first at Saint Mary’s College, and since 1994, at both locations.

For more than 50 years, KinderCare’s local day care centers have offered year-round child care and early childhood education for kids ages 0–12, and KinderCare partners with other universities in a number of locations. In addition to the new facility, our partnership with KinderCare will allow you as Notre Dame employees to receive a 10 percent savings at its day care centers nationwide. We offer our sincerest thanks to the many partners who have made it possible for the University to take this next important step in expanding the services available to you and your families.

In addition to the new KinderCare facility, we are pleased to announce the addition of a new family services consultant in NDHR who will serve as a resource to families, as well as a new website making it easier for you to access the family resources Notre Dame offers and find answers to frequently asked questions. As was already announced, we have increased the adoption credit for faculty and staff, from $3,000 per adoption to a maximum of $7,500. Human Resources will provide additional information about these new resources as it becomes available.

Again, thank you for all you do. Know that you and your loved ones are always in our prayers.

In Notre Dame,
