Leave Programs Training for Managers

Multiple Offerings:

  • Tues., June 5, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

  • Thurs., Aug. 9, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

For managers and supervisors. This session is for supervisors and designated leave administrator(s) for a department. Participants will learn how to recognize a potential Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) or Short Term Income Replacement (STIR) absence event and what to do; when to communicate with staff on leave and what’s ok and not ok to ask; when and how to submit appropriate paid time; return to work considerations, processes and more.

ND Essentials for Managing People

Date/Time: Tues., June 12, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

For managers and supervisors. If you supervise others at ND, you’ll need to know these essential University processes, tools, and resources for your role. This workshop will provide information on: how to manage time off/leaves/overtime, an overview of compensation, the online performance management process, coaching/counseling/disciplinary processes, review of harassment-free workplace obligations for supervisors, and other manager essentials.

Leading Difficult People

Date/Time: Wed., June 13, 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

For managers and supervisors. Gain confidence and manage expectations when dealing with difficult people. Identify the types of people who can derail your team and learn to establish healthy boundaries that can build trust.

Accountability: Cultivating it in Yourself and Your Team

Date/Time: Wed., Aug. 1, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

For managers and supervisors. Discover the powerful personal and organizational benefits of individual accountability and the strategies to make it happen. Do things more effectively, with less stress, and feel more in control of outcomes; develop stronger, more positive relationships; and improve personal productivity and satisfaction.

Lead Change & Build Buy-In Through Creative Participation

Date/Time: Thurs., Aug. 2, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

For managers and supervisors. Are you battle-weary from change? In this highly interactive workshop, learn how to re-frame change by identifying its reasons, stages, and benefits. You will practice using tools that decrease resistance and increase participation and ownership on your team and in your department. We encourage you to bring an actual example of a change initiative you are in the middle of leading or about to initiate.

Building Great Teams

For managers and supervisors. Teamwork is essential to the progress of any organization. However, it can be difficult and time-consuming to develop efficient, creative and successful teams. Learn the tools to organize effective teams. Gain insight to building successful teams and creating an environment where collaborative efforts and productivity thrive.
