  1. What is the Notre Dame Wellness Center?

The Notre Dame Wellness Center is an innovative onsite medical facility for the University of Notre Dame faculty, staff and their eligible dependents. Operated by Take Care Health Systems, a Walgreens Company, the wellness center offers a new model of care that treats the whole person. The Notre Dame Wellness Center provides a full suite of health services customized specifically for your needs, delivering patient-centered, quality care in a nurturing environment including:

  • Primary medical care (family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health)
  • Pediatrics
  • Laboratory services
  • Pharmacy, including over-the-counter medicine
  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational Health
  • Online health services

The Notre Dame Wellness Pharmacy, operated by Walgreens, is a full-service pharmacy offering prescription services and private consultations. The pharmacy’s over-the-counter products, such as shampoo, toothpaste, and cold medicine, are discounted by 15-20% in comparison to Walgreens local retail prices, a terrific savings for Notre Dame faculty and staff and their families.

  1. Who can use the Notre Dame Wellness Center?

If you are a Notre Dame faculty or staff member eligible for full-time benefits, you and your eligible dependents can access high-quality medical care through the Notre Dame Wellness Center.

  1. Where will the Notre Dame Wellness Center located?

The health center will be located in the southeast corner of Lot D2 South on the corner of Wilson and Bulla.

  1. What health services can I receive at the wellness center?

You can receive a variety of integrated health services, including:

  • Primary medical care (family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health)
  • Pediatric care
  • Preventive services such as flu shots and health screenings
  • Prescription medication and a selection of over-the-counter products are available at the onsite Notre Dame Wellness Center pharmacy, operated by Walgreens
  • Laboratory services
  • Physical therapy sessions with a prescription from a medical provider
  • Condition-management support from RNs who specialize in chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and musculoskeletal pain (back or neck pain or arthritis)
  • Online health services including secure messaging with your physician, appointment scheduling, and access to lab results.
  1. What types of doctors will work at the health center?

The physician and medical practitioners are Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice. The physical therapy professionals are accredited based on the standards established for their fields of practice.

  1. How much will it cost to visit a provider?

Services are provided at discounted rates.

  1. Can I visit the physicians at the health center but keep my own doctor?

Yes. You can use the services of the health center however you wish. Use the Notre Dame Wellness Center as your primary medical provider, or use as a supplement to your current medical practitioner—for example, you can have blood drawn and then send results sent to your offsite physician. The choice is yours.

  1. Will same-day appointments be available?

Yes, depending on availability.

  1. Who is Take Care Health Systems?

Take Care Health Systems manages the wellness center and is the largest and most comprehensive provider of worksite health and wellness centers in the country. The company has more than 40 years of clinical service experience and manages almost 400 employer health centers across the country. Take Care Health Systems also supplies and manages the electronic medical record system as well as the secure, password-protected patient web portal, which allows you to access your medical record, schedule appointments online, and send secure messages to your provider.

  1. What are the proposed hours of operation?

7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday 8 a.m. – Noon

  1. Where will the Notre Dame Wellness Center Pharmacy be?

The Pharmacy will be located within the Wellness Center. Drive through services will also be available.

  1. Who will operate the Notre Dame Wellness Center Pharmacy?

Walgreens operates the Pharmacy.

  1. Will I have to use the Notre Dame Wellness Center to fill a prescription at the pharmacy?

No. You can use the pharmacy without taking advantage of medical services at the Notre Dame Wellness Center.

  1. Are over-the-counter items available at the pharmacy?

Yes. The pharmacy stocks items such as pain relievers, vitamins and nutrition products, cold medicine for adults and children, travel-size bath and spa products, etc.

All over-the-counter products sold at the Notre Dame Wellness Center are discounted by 15-20% in comparison to Walgreens local retail prices, a terrific savings for Notre Dame faculty, staff and their families.

  1. Will my health data be secure?

Yes. The partners that operate the wellness center and/or provide services all maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with state and federal regulations to guard your personal health information.

Each wellness center partner ensures that your data is safe in transmission, and they employ strict security measures to safeguard online transactions. You will have encrypted password and personal information stored on a separate and secure database offsite.

The partners’ procedures provide a level of security consistent with federal and international privacy regulations, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

  1. Will the University of Notre Dame have access to my medical records?

No, the delivery of care, maintenance, and storage of medical records and health information is outsourced to Take Care Health Systems. Notre Dame does not have access to any medical records and does not have knowledge of the names of patients who use the Notre Dame Wellness Center for health services.
