This past year has taught us many things, including the importance of attending to our emotional well-being. As many of us transition back to campus, it’s important for our leaders to be equipped to handle mental health issues in the workplace, which is why we're offering a class on Mental Health First Aid.
What is Mental Health First Aid?
Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. Mental health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance abuse issues. In the course, you’ll learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to practice – through role-plays, scenarios, and activities – making it easier to apply these skills in a real-life situation.
