2014 benefits confirmation statements now available

The 2014 Open Enrollment period has closed, and your 2014 Benefits Confirmation Statement is now available for review online at:

The statement summarizes your 2014 elections. The elections you made to your medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account, and life insurance benefits during the Open Enrollment period are reflected in the statement. If you did not make any elections during the Open Enrollment period, the statement summarizes those benefits that were automatically carried over from 2013. Note: flexible spending account elections do not automatically carry over. Read full article

Great American Smokeout - Thursday, Nov. 21

Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the US, yet about 43.8 million Americans still smoke cigarettes — Nearly 1 in every 5 adults.

The American Cancer Society marks the Great American Smokeout on the third Thursday of November each year by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By quitting — even for one day — smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life – one that can lead to reducing cancer risk. Read full article

United Way Campaign Update

As of the week of November 11, the University has passed the 50 percent mark in the 2013 United Way campaign with $151,585.31 raised so far.

The generosity of the Notre Dame community in the 2012-2013 United Way campaign made a tremendous impact in St. Joseph County, raising $304,757.39 to help increase graduation rates, provide academic literacy programs, and more. Five percent of your donations support the Employee Compassion Fund for members of the campus community with catastrophic needs. Read full article

New COBRA administrator announced

Effective November 1, the management of Notre Dame’s COBRA administration has transitioned from Meritain to Infinisource.

Current COBRA participants and those in their election period have already been informed of this transition. Faculty, staff and their dependents who participate in a medical plan, dental plan, vision plan, flexible spending account or are eligible to use the Notre Dame Wellness Center and have a future occurrence of a “qualifying event” may look forward to receiving information from Infinisource Read full article

ImproveND survey open through Nov. 22

ImproveND, a bi-annual survey of Notre Dame campus services, opened November 4 and continues through November 22.

The 20-minute, confidential survey offers an opportunity for Notre Dame faculty and staff to provide feedback about the quality of a wide variety of internal services at the University. Read full article

Following Saving for College Week activities in September, was launched to provide additional information on preparing financially for a child’s future education. The site contains information about selecting, opening and funding a 529 Plan. It also features details about various college savings plans, including the Private College 529 Plan that the University participates in, along with additional resources and a listing of upcoming Saving for College events.
