Communication and networking are two important skills needed in today’s work environment. Participants will explore the basic elements of effective communication, and discuss appropriate networking techniques. This evening workshop is geared towards colleagues working 2nd or 3rd Shift, but open to all staff.

Managing My Career at Notre Dame

Date: Tues., Feb. 19, Tues., Mar. 5, AND Tues., Mar. 19
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. each day

This three-part workshop focuses on the stages of Notre Dame’s Career Management Process. Participants will complete various assessments and activities that will assist in the identification of personal interests, professional aspirations and lifestyle needs. They will then set SMART goals to achieve desired career development outcomes, and create a strategic Career Marketing Plan to assist them with selling their knowledge, skills, and abilities on resumes, cover letters, and in their networking and interview techniques.

StrengthsFinder: Identifying & Capitalizing on Your Talents

Date: Wed., Feb. 27
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

One of the most important aspects of your professional development is being able to identify and capitalize on your top strengths in the workplace. This workshop will assist you in identifying your strengths and opportunities to use them more fully and frequently at work. Participants must complete the Clifton StrengthsFinder self-assessment and read about their top five talents and strengths prior to the workshop.

Survival of the Kindest

Date: Thurs., Mar 7
Time: 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Some researchers consider kindness to be the single most effective factor in well-being, instantly affecting mood, heart health, and even the perception of time. In addition to this, kindness and compassion are not only linked to stronger social networks, but also higher rates of personal achievement. Dr. Megan Brown will take participants through an experiential look at the fascinating benefits of kindness and compassion. Participants will leave with strategies to cultivate compassion in their personal lives, in their work, and in their communities.

The Art of Risk Taking

Date: Tues., Mar 12
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. OR 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

This high-energy, interactive leadership and professional development workshop will assist you with taking smart risks that are consistent with your values. Participants will learn strategies to help you develop resiliency through mindset exercises to handle fear, failure, rejection, and criticism. There will also be tools to develop self-care practices designed to reduce stress and burnout. This workshop is open to ALL Staff, a focus will be on women’s issues related to risk-taking, but anyone working with, reporting to, or have reports that are women would benefit from this session.

NEW! Finding Your Purpose

Ever feel lost, like you’re just going through the motions? Don’t know if you’re making a difference? Want more out of life? You don’t have to make drastic changes to be satisfied with your job or life. You just have to find your purpose! When you find your calling, you can fulfill your purpose in life. This workshop will help attendees through practical, hands-on exercises to find their purpose in life. This will be the basis for their personal (and professional) development plans. They will be able to ensure their goals, objectives, tasks, and measures of success are aligned. Your purpose creates a solid foundation for being happy and content in your life.

Using MBTI Type in Your Career Development Strategy

Date: Wed., Apr. 24
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Identifying and developing a strategy is key to a successful career development process. Participants will explore their Myers-Briggs Type to locate a variety of career areas & activities that fit their interests. Prerequisite: This workshop is designed to help individuals explore further the MBTI® framework after an initial feedback session on the MBTI®. Participants are encouraged to attend the introductory “Know Thyself: An Introduction to the Myers-Briggs® Type Indicator (MBTI)” workshop prior to registering for this workshop.

Setting Your Compass

Who and what is important to you? Who do you want to be? How much are these present and guiding Obeing, how awareness of personal values increases happiness and reduces stress and how reorienting their priorities can reenergize their lives. Dr. Megan Brown will take participants on an experiential journey to reconnect with their values, learn the most effective psychological intervention for promoting resilience, and practice techniques that cultivate a mindful and values-centered life.

This self-paced, online workshop will provide you with the fundamentals and tools that may assist you in developing and maintaining effective career development process. Participants will advance through Notre Dame’s career management process at their own pace. The program include self-assessments and resources to help you decide and set goals, and take appropriate action through networking, interviewing, and personal branding.

Building Strategic Resumes & Cover Letters

Date: Available on or after Mon., Mar.4
Time: Self-Paced Online Workshop

This self-paced, online workshop will provide you with the fundamentals and tools that will assist you in creating, or updating, strategic and effective documents. Participants will learn the fundamentals of how to create strategic and effective personal marketing tools, and submit one resume and one cover letter for a review.

Interview Preparation & Practice

Date: Available on or after Mon., Mar. 18
Time: Self-Paced Online Workshop

This self-paced, online workshop will provide you with the fundamentals and tools of successful and strategic interviewing. Participants will identify the fundamentals of effective communication, and practice interviewing to sharpen the skills needed to sell the most valuable asset you have – YOU!
