Fred Freeman Scholarship

The Fred E. Freeman Staff Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 with funds willed to the University by Mr. Freeman for the purpose of providing staff the opportunity to further their education. His generosity continues to enhance the development of staff members through this fund by providing scholarships covering post‐secondary education, certification and college degrees.

The scholarship covers tuition and the maximum award is $1,000 per semester. This is in addition to the University’s staff tuition reimbursement benefit. The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient continues to be a full‐time, regular non‐exempt staff member and enrolls in at least one course each fall and spring semester.

Summer Hours and Casual Dress

The University will observe a business casual dress option for staff and administrators from Monday, May 21 through Friday, August 17, 2012 based upon supervisor approval.

Also, based upon supervisor approval, staff may adjust their summer work schedule, during this same time period, by decreasing their lunchtime to thirty (30) minutes. Adjustments to work schedules should not disrupt the efficient completion of daily work responsibilities by the employee and/or others within the department.

Adjustments to business attire and work schedule are optional. Implementation of either of these programs is at the discretion of the department and may be changed at any time to meet the operating needs of the unit.

If you have any questions regarding summer business casual attire or adjusted work schedules, please contact askHR at 631-5900.

LifeWorks – Healthy Eating As You Age

Healthy eating is important at any age. But as you get older, your nutritional needs change, and you may need to pay more attention to what you eat. Later in life, you may face special challenges when you try to eat, cook, or shop for healthy meals. You may be less active and need fewer calories per day. You may have health or dental concerns that you need to consider, or you may find it harder to shop for food. If you frequently eat alone, you may spend less time preparing meals, choose processed, convenience foods, or even skip meals altogether. Changes like these can lead to nutritional deficiencies that may cause serious health problems.
