Who is eligible?
All regular full-time faculty and staff (exempt and non-exempt).
What is the Bright Horizons CareAdvantage Program?
The Care Advantage Program from Bright Horizons provides:
- Back-up care for unexpected, short-term child or elder care needs
- An online provider directory for on-going family care solutions
FAQ – Back-up Care
What is back-up care?
Back-up care provides short-term child care or adult/elder care when regular arrangements fall through unexpectedly.
What back-up care services are provided?
Back-up care services include:
- child care in-home or at day care centers and
- elder care services in-home.
What constitutes a “use” when back-up care services are provided?
Each use of In-Center care for each child or adult is one use regardless of the hours used (or number of times in and out during that same day) up to a maximum of one day.
Each use of one caregiver for In-Home Care for one or more children or adults is one use regardless of the hours used (or number of times in and out during those hours) up to a maximum of ten hours in one day. In home services are available 24-hours per day.
A reservation to use care is a use unless cancelled by 5:00 p.m. on the business day immediately prior to the scheduled day of care.
How much does it cost?
Back-up care is available at the following co-payments:
- Center-based child care: $15/child/day or $25/family/day
- In-home child care for well and mildly ill children: $6/hour/caregiver (for up to 3 care recipients at one time)
- In-home adult/elder care anywhere throughout the U.S.: $6/hour
A 4-hour minimum is required for in-home care.
How many times may I use back-up care services?
University of Notre Dame full-time faculty and staff may use back-up care for up to 15 uses per year.
How do I pay for back-up care services?
Payment for back-up care services will be arranged through the Bright Horizons Care Advantage program.
How are caregivers screened?
Only providers who meet Bright Horizons’ stringent standards are invited into the caregiver network. Providers are required to be in compliance with state licensing, meet accreditation standards and complete thorough background checks during the screening process.
FAQ – Online Caregiver Directory
What services are available in the online caregiver directory?
The online caregiver directory includes babysitters, nannies, pet sitters, housekeepers, music instructors, tutors and test preparation providers, and more.
How much does it cost?
Costs associated with services obtained through the Care Advantage online caregiver directory will vary depending upon the services and provider.
How do I pay for services obtained through the directory?
Payment for services obtained through the online caregiver directory will apply at the time the service is utilized and is made directly with the service provider.
How many times may I use the online caregiver directory?
Access to the online directory of caregivers is unlimited.
Are caregivers screened?
The online directory of caregivers includes profiles with background checks, references, reviews, skills and certifications and photos.
FAQ – Registration and Arranging Care
When should I register?
A one-time registration to the program is necessary, therefore you are highly encouraged to register *prior*to utilizing the program. Registration is free and begins July 1, 2016. You will be required to create a personal username and password for future uses for the online caregiver database.
What information is required at registration?
Dependent child(ren) or adult’s demographic and health information such as your child’s immunization schedule may be required at the time of utilization of the program.
How do I register or arrange care?
Register beginning July 1, 2016 at www.CareAdvantage.com/NotreDame (username: NDCare, password: gond). You will be required to create a personal username and password.
Once registered, services may be arranged online or by calling Bright Horizons CareAdvantage at 877-BH-CARES (242-2737).
