Prudential to Discontinue New Enrollments to Long Term Care Insurance after July 2013

Published: August 31, 2012

The University has had a partnership for several years with Prudential Insurance Company of America to offer Long-Term Care Insurance (LTC). The plan provides eligible employees the opportunity to purchase group LTC to cover expenses in a nursing home and assisted living/residential care facility and for other services such as home health care and adult day care.

Effective July 1, 2013, Prudential will no longer offer new enrollments into their group LTC plan. Although Prudential has decided to leave the LTC market, they have assured us they remain committed to servicing individuals already enrolled by providing customer service and claims support. They said they will be communicating directly with everyone currently enrolled in LTC.

If you are not already enrolled, you may want to take advantage of this group LTC. Please review the information and sign up between now and June 30, 2013, if interested. Prudential determines premiums and whether an individual meets the medical underwriting requirements before approval of a policy.
