The Work Number service is used when you apply for a loan, need a reference check, lease an apartment or any other instance where proof of employment or income is needed. You benefit from verifiers having 24/7 access to your information, allowing you to make life decisions at your own pace.

How it works…

Need to Provide Proof of Employment or Income?

Give the bank or organization needing proof of your employment or income the following information:

  1. Notre Dame Employer Code:€“ 14219
  2. Your Social Security Number (Typically provided on the bank or organization application)
  3. Your Salary Key (Needed when income verification is required. See below for details*.)

Salary Key*

What is a Salary Key? A Salary Key is a six-digit number that allows one-time access to your salary information.

Important – Please Note: A NEW Salary Key is needed each time you provide verification of your income. Up to three Salary Keys may be active at one time.

How do I create a Salary Key?

You may create a Salary Key through The Work Number by one of two methods:

Via InsideND:

  1. Select the link within Toolkits for Faculty and Staff on My Resources tab. By selecting this link, you will be automatically logged in to The Work Number’s website
  2. Select “Create a Salary Key” from the verification section of the main menu. This process will automatically generate a Salary Key that can be printed from the actions menu.
  3. Once printed, fill in your Social Security Number and provide to the person requesting proof of employment and income verification.

Via telephone at 1-800-367-2884. If using the telephone, the following information is required:

  1. Notre Dame Employer Code: 14219
  2. Your NDID # – What’s my NDID? (The voice prompt will request your Social Security Number, however proceed with entering your NDID)
  3. Your PIN # (default pin is the last four (4) digits of your NDID plus the month and day of birth as four (4) digits (####MMDD). If you have not accessed The Work Number via telephone within the last 90 days, you will be required to create a new pin number. When prompted, enter a numerical pin number that is 4-16 digits in length. You will be asked to confirm your pin following initial entry.
  4. An option to create a Salary Key will be presented. Once selected, the system will automatically generate a 6-digit random number which will be voiced by the associate. Please be prepared to document the Salary Key when provided.
