Working at Notre Dame
Becoming Part of the Tradition
The University of Notre Dame is a Catholic academic community of higher learning that traces its origins to the Congregation of Holy Cross. The University has become a highly respected center of learning dedicated to the threefold goal of contemporary higher education -- teaching, research, and service.
Our faculty and staff bring individual talents to the unique mission as the world's great Catholic university. The essentials of our mission are the transmission of knowledge through teaching and mentoring, the discovery of knowledge through research and scholarship and, above all, the holistic formation of our students -- intellects, hearts and souls. We offer an education that is unabashedly rooted in faith and that aims to inspire our students to scholarship, service, and leadership. The concept of community is fundamental to a Notre Dame education, and the campus community embraces all here -- students, faculty, and staff. Regardless of the job description and responsibilities, the efforts of our faculty and staff make an important contribution to the overall quality of life at Notre Dame.
