Dual Career Assistance Detail

Who is Eligible?

  • A spouse of a new permanent faculty or staff member who is being employed by the University through a regional or national recruitment effort or a spouse of a continuing faculty member who is seeking job search assistance.
  • The Office of the Provost, Deans, Department Chairs and Vice Presidents or department heads must make the referral for services in the case of new permanent faculty or staff and continuing faculty.
  • Priority is given to those individuals whose spouse has been employed at the University less than one year.
  • The Dual Career Assistance Program does not create an entitlement to employment nor does it guarantee a position. Assistance will be extremely hampered if a client does not have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Those not eligible for all services may be able to secure information about local employers and community network partners. Please contact: askHR Customer Service Center at (574) 631-5900.

Network Partners

Along with extensive relationship building on campus, the Dual Career office collaborates with community and business leaders in an effort to help identify “networking resources” for clients. Forty-six partners have been identified in both the local and regional geographical area. The partnership works two ways – our community partners assist us in our efforts to connect our clients to suitable networking and employment contacts and we will also assist them, if any of their relocating spouses have an interest in finding employment in an academic setting.

Dual Career Consultant

Dorothy J. Mincy, CCMC, CPRW

Dorothy is the Dual Career Assistance Consultant and manager of the Dual Career AssistanceProgram at the University of Notre Dame. She has over 25 years of comprehensive human resource experience in the areas of recruitment, employment and career coaching. She earned her designation as a Certified Career Management Coach through Career Coach Academy in 2008 and is a Certified Professional Resume Writer through the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches.

She holds a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations from St. Francis University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Robert Morris University. She also holds a Certified Compensation Professional designation (CCP) from “World At Work” and is a member of both the national and local chapters of the Society of Human Resource Management. She has attended numerous executive leadership programs at the University of Chicago, Northwestern University and the University of Michigan.
